Chores at The Hollow

Winifred tries her hand at wood chopping.

Charles and some of Edmund’s friends offer to help him finish the verandah at The Nyth, however their assistance is limited to helping finish the beer.

Some of these sketches show Winifred’s ministrations towards the sheep, who turn out to be downright ungrateful for her kindness.

The gentle shepherd gets the worst of it!

A sheep it is a gentle thing
An innocent as a lamb!
And charming ‘tis’ to cut and run Before a charging ram!
I think he’s ‘mild and trustful yet’ I’d feel inclined to ____
